FM radio has come to Harrisville and to Ritchie County. WVHV – 98.5 LP FM is now on the air, playing country, rock, blues, bluegrass, gospel and everything in between.
The new radio station is the brain child of Harrisville resident Doug Jackson and members of the Ritchie Progress Alliance (RPA). The RPA is a group of individuals working to better Ritchie County.
WVHV is a licensed Federal Communication Commission LP FM radio station. LP stands for “Low Power”. We prefer to refer this designation as “Local Presence” said Jackson. In order to obtain a license, the licensee is required to be a non-profit entity. This non-profit class of small stations are more capable of providing community services then commercial stations are, due to the higher cost of operating and required local presence of ownership stated Jackson.
The new WVHV (West Virginia HarrisVille) radio station is located at 701 South Spring Street in Harrisville at the former South Side Gas Station. WVHV Radio newly elected board of director officers are: Dave Klemencic – President, Steve Parks – Vice President, Janis Mahaney – Secretary, David Scott – Treasurer and Doug Jackson – Program Director and Engineer.
The intention of WVHV is to be a community radio station, responding to the needs of Ritchie County said Dave Klemencic. We want to provide to the citizens of the county local interest stories, club and organization announcements, and local programs. WVHV wants to be your local source for information for Ritchie County, said Klemencic. As time progresses, more local programing will start to happen, such as live remotes, local news, weather and sports updates.
WVHV currently services the Harrisville, Ellenboro, Pennsboro and Pullman area. Tune them in at 98.5 and listen to Ritchie Counties New Music Connection….WVHV Harrisville. | Fix Delete Reply to |
