When baking a potato in a microwave oven, why do we poke the potato with a fork first before putting it in the oven?

To let the excess gluten out
It just feels right
To let the potato bugs out
To see if it's done
It gives a reason why you have to run the dishwasher
I read it on the Internet so it must be true
So the microwave knows when to stop cooking
Because people are sheep
That is steaming a potato, not baking one
You can cook more at once that way
It's just common sense
Only men would be stupid enough to not poke the potatoes
It makes the potato easier to eat
It is what my mother told me to do
To get the little pieces of metal in your diet
To let the microwaves in
To keep the potato from exploding
So the potato cooks faster
A spoon would not work
