Why is January 1st the first day of the year?

it says so in the Bible
It was all because of that two-faced Janus.
Jan.1st, 57 states, 364 days a year.
it's based on the Mayan Calender
It's the first full moon after the winter solstice
January is the first month of the year

For the same reason OCTober is the 8th month of the year
for the same reason DECember is the 10th month of the year
i suppose SEPtember is the 7th month, too?
to match the Islamic lunar calendar
