Why do most cities and towns outlaw raising chickens in your back yard?

Because we keep asking the government to control "those other people"
Nobody wants to hear roosters in the morning
If you control your foof supply, what control does the government have?
The city would have to dispose of feathers
So you won't create any untaxed wealth
Bird Flu or is it H1 N1. the sky is falling, the sky is falling.
Because they can
The same reason they outlaw drying clothes outside
If chickens are outlawed, only outlaws will have chickens
Chickens stink
Killing chickens by wringing the neck is cruel
Keeping farm animals is a sign of poverty
Chickens spread diseases
People might make their own pillows
Ultimately they want to control everything about your life
Eggs from unlicensed chickens can make you sick
To protect property values
Pressure from the supermarket lobby
