Why do pillows carry a Federal Government mandated tag that makes it a crime to remove the tag?

To keep the Department of Pillow Tags busy
Because the government cannot stop things they require no matter how stupid they are
So you're aware the pillow was made in Pakistan
So people know if the pillow is stuffed with chicken feathers
To protect people with allergies
so that women in short skirts are employed
So Union Thugs can spot non-union pillows in stores
I tear them off every chance I get
It stimulates the economy
To keep people from making and selling unauthorized pillows in their homes
The prisons need more prisoners to employ unionized prison guards
To protect the children from poison pillows
It was a pilot program for banana tags
So the IRS can collect the pillow tax
So you can spot stupid poeple who don't remove their tags
