Columbus "discovered" the New World in 1492 - why would it take over 100 years before England would send people to colonize the New World?

The Spanish kept the New World a secret
Each time England sent a boat, it was never heard from again
The Spanish Navy owned the Atlantic Ocean
Piracy was rampant
England didn't want conflict with the Native Indians
The English didn't know how to navigate on long ocean voyages
England used America as a place to get rid of prisoners
England didn't "send" anyone - people came on their own
They couldn't see any profit in it
England wasn't able to build ships that could cross an ocean
The English royalty prohibited it
The native american (indians) were not issueing geen cards. They built a fence
