You live in Minot, North Dakota, a town of about 37,000 people. At 2:30 in the morning, in the middle of January and it is -6 degrees outside. A train carrying ammonia derailed a half mile outside of town.

Since you are sleeping, how would you decide that you were in danger and needed to take action?

Why EAS failed

I would hear the EAS message, except my radio is turned off because I'm asleep.

Oh, the local police didn't have any EAS equipment or didn't know how to use it
(11)
Don't all police cars have public address systems to tell me what to do?
(23)
I could just wait until the smell gets really strong
(14)
I could wait for an outbound 911 call telling me what to do
(5)
I could go door to door and wake up my neighbors without being told what to do
(13)
Perhaps a civil defense / tornado siren could wake me up
(45)
Nothing on the TV - I'll go back to sleep
(10)
I'll dial 911 and ask what to do
(5)
OMG, I've got post traumatic stress from hearing the EAS alarm!
(2)
I know - I'll crash my pickup truck into my garage door in the dark to get out and escape!
(1)
The train car crashing into my bedroom
(13)
I would Google the freezing point of ammonia!
(4)
Only -6 in Minot? In January? Global warming is real! We are in trouble!
(11)
Bush derailed it.
(9)
If I am sleeping whilst this is happening, perhaps the Tooth Fairy would help

I've got it - I'll blame Clear Channel!
