Topic: Caller from yesterday who was asking about binge eating (Dr Laura kept her on hold for 3 hours on purpose to provoke anger). She was told that she had the skills to be in control of her anger and was given the assignment to figure out where the anger is coming from. Today's revelation is that she is angry at her divorced parents, especially her dad who was shacking up with his girlfriend and her mother who insisted she keep going over to his house.artstone

Conversation: Great supportive husband. If he's that uneasy about his masculinity, it's all downhill hill from here...divorce him!

Conversation: She didn't have a lot of time for her answer, but as an infrequent listener, I'll guess at her rationale.

One of her principles about a marriage (and not just her) is that when you have a partnership, important life decisions need to have agreement of both parties before you proceed together as a team. Withholding sex is "out of bounds" to get that agreement.

Since the person was on the phone to Dr Laura with a problem, that told Dr Laura that she took the job without first getting agreement from her husband - hence she violated the partnership rules. It wasn't that women shouldn't have a job or that men make the rules, but that she decided to overrule the partnership arrangement to feed her ego. Support is a mutual thing - it goes both ways.

Conversation: Couple where she wanted to marry her dad, and he wanted to not marry his drama queen mom. Dr Laura concludes they made a bad choice and should have had premarriage conseling and would never have married each other.artstone

Conversation: That doesn't strike me as particularly useful advice. If he really is a Navy Seal (he probably is lying), having a gun pointed in his direction is going to do nothing except get her killed.
