<p class="about-p">WJEC, 106.5 FM, began broadcasting in 1989 after receiving its initial permit from the FCC to broadcast at 3000 watts. Shortly thereafter, in 1992, WJEC increased its effective power to 6000 watts.</p>
<p class="about-p">In 1996, WJEC, along with its AM station WVSA, was purchased by Lamar Broadcasting Company, and the music programming moved to a Southern Gospel format, alongside its continued local programming. Beginning in 2016, with the transition of WVSA-AM, a sister station, to the FM dial, the Southern Gospel programming was moved to WVSA and WJEC 106.5 became <em>The Ride</em>, playing classic country hits from the 70s, 80s & 90s.</p>
<p class="about-p">In addition to country music, WJEC 106.5 is home to the long-running & popular local call-in program, <em>Party Line</em>, each morning. On Sundays, WJEC still broadcasts several local church programs, as well as the syndicated program, <em>The Gospel Greats</em> with host Paul Heil. Throughout the school year, WJEC showcases a range of local high school sporting events, including football, basketball, baseball, & softball from several area schools. WJEC is also the west Alabama/east Mississippi home for football & basketball broadcasts for The University of Alabama Crimson Tide.</p>

<p>Every day here on The Ride, we bring you the best in classic country hits. From the legendary stars of the 70s & 80s, to the newer memories from the 90s & 00s - WJEC plays the songs that country fans remember & love. </p>
<p>On Sundays, we turn our focus to Southern Gospel & local programming, with Paul Heil's Gospel Greats and local church services. In between, The Ride features the best in southen gospel music. Then in the afternoon, we head back into the classic country vault.</p>
<p>And as always, Monday through Saturday, we have our flagship program, Party Line, each morning at 8:30(ish). Call in with your buy, sell, & trade requests and we'll put them on the airwaves!</p>

<p class="about-p" style="margin-top:-15px;">WJEC, 106.5 FM, began broadcasting in 1989 after receiving its initial permit from the FCC to broadcast at 3000 watts. Shortly thereafter, in 1992, WJEC increased its effective power to 6000 watts.</p>
<p class="about-p">In 1996, WJEC, along with its AM station WVSA, was purchased by Lamar Broadcasting Company, and the music programming moved to a Southern Gospel format, alongside its continued local programming. Beginning in 2016, with the transition of WVSA-AM, a sister station, to the FM dial, the Southern Gospel programming was moved to WVSA and WJEC 106.5 became <em>The Ride</em>, playing classic country hits from the 70s, 80s & 90s.</p>
<p class="about-p">WJEC 106.5 The Ride has a signal reaching more than 15 counties in northwest Alabama and northeast Mississippi, serving a population in excess of 350,000 people.
